Chronoswiss was founded by the enterprising and highly talented watch maker Gerd R Lang in 1983 in Munich. Gerd R Lang had been involved in the watch making business since the early 1960's and most famously as a watch maker with Tag Hueur Watch company and Steve McQueen who starred in the motor racing Le Mans and patron of Tag Hueur. Gerd R Lang became friends with Steve McQueen and shared his love of racing cars and still enjoys the sport.
Upon the death of Steve McQueen Tag Hueur lost its high profile patron and promoter and it was following this period of uncertainty Gerd R Lang decided to take the bold step and set up his own brand and established his workshop in Munich, Germany and created a brand of Chronograph movement that encapsulates German precision and attention to detail and Swiss horological engineering. |
