Nei Lian Sheng (briefly NLS) was open since 1853 (3rd year of the reign of Qing Emperor Xianfeng). The founder of NLS is Zhao Ting, Wuqing County in Tianjin. When he was young, he learnt the craft of making shoes at a shoes workshop and gathered many management experience. Later, he opened a shoes shop financed two thousand liang silver by a general. At that time, because of the lack of professional court boots shop, Zhao Ting decided to open one for the relatives of emperor and courtiers.
NLS starts the business by making court boots that the soles have 32 layers. The thick-sole shoes are the featured products which every process is handmade. NLS recorded each courtier's foot size and his favorite style, so it would be convenient to make shoes for those regular customers.
